This park, which is still a project, should officially open in 2008. Its opening to the public (even though people can already visit the place) should be made in the following months. The development of this national park, the second in Nunavik, will be used to preserve a territory that is more than 4,000 km2. Its main attraction is without a doubt the Torngat Mountains, but also the George River and the coast of the Ungava Bay.
This territory is ideal for excursions, to admire flora or to go hunting and fishing. Soon, people will be allowed to go camping, and until then, kayakers and canoeists can enjoy the numerous rivers of the park. The fjords of the park abound with natural attractions, like cirques and glacial troughs. Moreover, Inuit think this area is inhabited by venerated and malevolent spirits. Now, it is your turn to see if you believe in this legend or not…
