Since 2001, 15 to 65 year old Inuit living in Nunavik have had the chance to participate in an outstanding dog sledding race. During about 10 days and along a 575-kilometres long circuit, more than 17 teams challenge the cold and changeable weather of northern Quebec. More than 200 dogs will have to pull their musher as well as all the equipment from Quaqtaq to Inujivik.
This race allows elders to pass on their knowledge to the young generation, but also to relive this period during which snowmobiles were not yet in use. For 10 days, the participants will have to sleep in tents and eat what their team will catch during the day. The only concession is that each team has a little propane stove to cook their meal. They are waiting for you to encourage them at each stop!
